What many see as just a comment can fuel discrimination, hate crimes and even physical attacks beyond the digital world, with real consequences for the most vulnerabilised people and groups. Amid rising geopolitical tensions, online hate speech can even become a tool to dehumanise targeted groups and minorities.
This 18 June marks the International Day for Countering Hate Speech. At the Together Against Online Hate Speech project, we want to remind everyone that every user has the power to help make social media safer, more respectful and free from hate.
